“Piedra Luenga Pedro Ximénez 5l” awarded Best Wine in Box 2020

Piedra Luenga Pedro Ximénez has been recognized with the award “Best Wine in Box 2020” at the Concours International Wine in Box, CIWIB held in Toulouse for premium wines in baginbox and endorsed by the French Ministry of Economy.

Piedra Luenga Pedro Ximénez
Wine made from organic raisins of the Pedro Ximénez variety from our estate in Villargallegos. During the “asoleo” we spread the grapes harvested in August in the “paseras”, a place in the vineyard with a gentle slope where we take special care to ensure that the raisins are regular and homogeneous by turning the bunches by hand. In the winery, the raisined grapes are spread out in baskets and a hydraulic press is used to extract the must, which then displays an impressive range of aromas of cherry resin, quince jelly and honey that flood the entire winery.

Bodegas Robles updates the old tradition of the reusable wine bottle with its “labotelladelvino” range: packaging our best wines in the baginbox format and accompanying it with a reusable glass bottle. This format allows its conservation with all its properties and organoleptic qualities until the last glass. According to a study conducted by CO2 Consulting for Bodegas Robles, every time you fill the bottle, you are avoiding the emission of 500g of CO2 into the atmosphere.

CIWIB 2020
The 2020 edition of the Concours International Wine in Box has been adapted to the situation caused by the Covid-19, separating the tasters in “virtual” tables and not “face to face” and packing a box for each taster containing the samples to be tested in the “virtual” table. In order to guarantee the best organoleptic conditions, the whole process (anonymization, packaging, delivery, tasting) has been done in less than 48 hours for each “virtual” table.
